How to Become an Instructor

Welcome to Brewster's Safety Training – your gateway to excellence in life-saving skills! Our American Heart Association Instructor Course is designed for individuals who have already showcased exceptional proficiency in their discipline-specific provider course. Aspiring instructors at Brewster's Safety Training are expected to embody integrity, exhibit strong ethics, communicate effectively, and uphold a commitment to delivering top-notch training.

Our BLS and Heartsaver CPR Instructor Course Package includes:

 

1. Online Instructor's Essentials Course

2. BLS Provider Course for a thorough review of effective teaching methods

3. In-person instructor course with Instructor Monitoring

4. Alignment with a responsive and affordable Training Site featuring competitive CPR/BLS card prices (Hale CPR)

5. Instructor and Student Textbook

6. Access to Enrollware – a software solution streamlining course paperwork and card issuance

 

Upon becoming an AHA BLS Instructor, you will have the ability to teach various classes, including BLS Provider, Heartsaver CPR/AED, Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED, Heartsaver for K-12 Schools, Heartsaver First Aid Only, Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens, and Friends and Family.

 

Additionally, you will gain the flexibility to:

 

- Conduct classes at your place of employment or outside work

- Issue certification cards to students

- Post your classes on the AHA class locator

- Teach anywhere in the US


 

Course Prerequisites:

 

Before embarking on the instructor course journey, candidates must meet specific requirements. Prior to attending the discipline-specific classroom segment of the instructor course, all candidates should:

 

- Be a minimum of 18 years old

- Be affiliated with an AHA Training Center (BST is aligned with “Hale CPR” – your application will serve as your alignment application)

- Complete an Instructor Candidate Application and submit it with a copy of AHA discipline-specific cards

- Hold a current AHA discipline-specific Provider Course Completion card

- Demonstrate proficiency in CPR and First Aid (discipline-specific)

- Finish discipline-specific Instructor Essentials (provided with Course Registration)

 

At Brewster's Safety Training, we offer instructor courses 4 times a year for individuals. Additionally, we provide group instructor courses for your facility with certain restrictions.

 

Instructor Course Fees: $500.00

 

Our upcoming instructor course is scheduled for March 09, 2024, with a registration deadline of 2/25/24. Future instructor courses are planned for June 2024.

 

To begin your journey as an AHA instructor, please complete the instructor candidate application (found below) and return it to Brewster’s Safety Training at brewsterssafety@gmail.com, along with a copy of your current certificates.
